Description

Ford Mustang created a class of Pony cars, characterized by cars with long hood and short trunk cover.  Mustang competition are Chevrolet Camaro, Pontiac Firebird, AMC Javelin, same as Chrysler modified Plymouth Barracuda and first-generation Dodge Challenger. Ford Mustang was an inspiration for multiple automobiles as Toyota Celica or Ford Capri.

First prototype was manufactured in USA. It was two-seater roadster, V-shape four cylinder. Later on, in a division of Ford Lincoln and Mercury it was changed to four-seater based on sale analysis of two-seater Ford Thunderbird. It meant to be a variation to European sport cars, such as Jaguar E-Type or its competitor Corvette. To bring production and development cost down Mustang used a lot of parts from Ford Fairlane and Falcon. Size wise it resembled

Falcon. Mustang was the same length, wheelbase was a bit shorter, somehow narrower, but the front wheels width was the same and the weight was almost the same. Car was introduced in April 1964. In the beginning of 1965 it was modified, therefore first models are marked as 1965 models. Model Fastback 1965 had engine capacity 4,7 liter or 289 CUI

After 1965 model 1967originated with a lot more technology from preexisting models. This in fact lowered production cost as well as service staff training. It achieved significant price reduction of the vehicle, spare parts for the models 1968, 1969 and 1971. In the years of 1969 and 1970 there was a special model production Mach1, Boss 302 and Boss429. This was as well last year for version GT.

Both models of Boss were approved for racing purposes.

Short story

In a time we found this „handsome guy“ on internet (2020) there was worldwide pandemic of Covid 19. Personal inspection of the vehicle was impossible due to airline restrictions to the USA.

We are lucky enough to have our partner Peter stationed locally in USA who is always willing to assist. Meeting with seller was arranged in a city of Louisville, state Kentucky. Seller was an older gentleman, who admitted that he has no desire to continue with renovation. According to Peter, seller sounded very pleasant, but he went down to his knees when he visited him. Seller has total of six separate garages and in each of one of them there was project classic car. The view was just breathtaking.  In a front of one garage was parked our Mustang. Seller explained that he purchased this car to rebuild the engine, but he did not touch it yet. This car was owned by gentleman who inherited this from his father.

After five long weeks our „wild horse galloped“ to us. In a process of unloading American rust came out the hole in a floor boards, which were covered by the sign „ NO PARKING ANY TIME“ We use this sign as a prop during our photo shoot.

The planned renovation should include transformation into iconic car from John Wick movie. We are eager to complete this.
