Parking meter DUNCAN

Story:

We bought this parking meter over the internet from the USA (South Carolina) from the city of Iva. The clock in the photos looked a little different than the one that came to us. The one we picked up was in original condition, it was all worn and the paint was mostly flaking off. And that’s exactly what we wanted. The plan was that we would renovate them ourselves. The ones that came to us had already been re-sprayed. What now?! The paint will have to come off. The clocks were bought without a stand-without a platform to stand on. It was missing the keys and the coin jar as well.

Renovation:

We will remove the surface red paint by sanding and sandblasting. We will repair the dented parts. The internal mechanism is fully functional, tested and  it remains without renovation. The colour will be changed. To what? Let yourself be surprised.

When the base was missing for the parking clock, we had to get creative and make it in our shop. In our workshop, we found an old pipe whose width happened to be a perfect fit for our clock. To ensure stability, we adapted the bottom part of the pipe by welding a worn-out brake disc from a used motor vehicle onto it, which would otherwise have ended up in the junkyard. However, we needed to cover the disc so that it wouldn’t be visible, therefore we decided to use something unconventional. Instead of laboriously making a cover, we opted for an interesting alternative. We found an old industrial lamp on a classifieds portal and decided to customize it for our clock. We used only the lampshade from this lamp, which we modified to fit perfectly.

And the result? We’ll leave that assessment to you.

In the gallery you can now see the original (purchased) condition and condition after renovation done by us.
